WebDAM was founded in 2005 by Jody Vandergriff and Steve Rabkin, two Silicon Valley data scientists. Having spent years developing technologies in the emerging field of Bioinformatics, Jody and Steve recognized the opportunity to apply these technologies to enable professionals across a spectrum of industries and applications.
Having been a cloud platform since day one, WebDAM has empowered hundreds of businesses and organizations to manage and grow their brand and reach new audiences. From notable names like Reynolds and Elmer’s to the prestigious University of California system and global corporations like Intel and Vodafone, WebDAM’s technology reaches the world’s most forward-thinking and cutting edge brands.
Originally developed to enable photo agencies to effectively compete in the fast-paced, competitive world of editorial photography, WebDAM was quickly adopted by enterprises with similar digital asset management and distribution struggles. WebDAM was a labor of love, originally bootstrapped to profitability. Our mission is to help brands grow, thrive and succeed by connecting teams and assets.
In 2014, WebDAM was acquired by Shutterstock, a leading global provider of high-quality licensed photographs, vectors, illustrations, videos and music to businesses, marketing agencies and media organizations around the world. Together we empower the world’s storytellers.
